This finnish sauna doubles as a steam room. Our general recommendation is to stay away from wood when building a steam room, because the steam can warp, stain, and otherwise damage the water. Nevertheless, the contractor behind this house pulled it off, and this room has been in existence for years without a noticeable problem.

I am intrigued by the sauna / steam room combination and would like to create one for myself. Was hoping you might be able to put me in contact with the contractor that created the one mentioned above, in hope that I would be able to avoid any unforseen complications.
Here in Finlahd saunas have been built using wood for as long as saunas have existed. The wood doesn’t get damaged because it is treated to be protected from the humidity. The wooden parts of the sauna usually stay good for decades. The picture above doesn’t give you a good idea of modern finnish saunas. Anyone interested should google “saunan lauteet” and enjoy at least the pictures.
